Like with our mantel, I didn’t go shopping for anything new this year.
Originally, we had plans to buy a new tree. We have had the same $30 Wal-Mart tree for four years now, so we felt like we were due an upgrade. Time got away from us though, and before we knew it, we had a baby and the same old tree.
We are in the market for new 7′-0″ tall, fake tree but feel weird paying full price for it when it will be drastically reduced after Christmas. Our second thought was to buy a real tree to tie us over until next year. They were pretty reasonably priced, but if you throw in the tree stand and lights its not worth it for just one year.
So that brings us back to our $30 tree for one more year. Which breaks down to $7.50 a year.
I don’t think it looks too bad… except for all the empty space under the tree. We haven’t gotten around to wrapping any presents yet! I added a little extra ribbon this year and bows that I normally hang on the garland.
With all our ornaments (read about our aniversary ornaments here) and ribbon, the gaping holes disappear.
But I will be out the day after Christmas looking for our new tree!
Update: We scored a great deal on a much bigger tree after Christmas! Check it out here.
Are you a real tree or fake tree family? Is anybody else in the market for a new tree for next year?
