Temporarily Relocated

I wish I had the time to sit down and write several posts.  I have so much to tell y’all!  If only my words could be short and everything could be explained with pictures but it can’t so I’ll just try and take it one post at a time.

So, first things first.  It’s high time I share some updated pics of Noah’s room. I mentioned a few weeks ago that we were about to start making preparations for kiddo #2.  Since we don’t plan on moving before the adoption Noah and her sibling will be sharing a room.  This is totally cool with us because it really is a big room and it will be a great bonding experience for them to share a space together.

After Christmas (yeah, I know that was a long time ago), while we were getting the living room back in order we decided to go ahead and relocate the desk downstairs.  It was the perfect opportunity… and as soon as I get the chance to snap some pics I will share our updated furniture layout in the living room with you. With the desk out of Noah’s room it really freed up a lot of space.  So I took advantage of all the extra square footage and moved the rocker to the space where the desk used to be.

This is just a temporary setup until we add Noah’s “big girl” bed to the mix.  Which just happens to be this weekend!  I get a little teary eyed thinking about it. Maybe its just the interior designer in me or has this happened to anyone else as they had to transition their little one’s room?  I am super thankful for this blog and all the pictures I have to remember her nursery by.

Rearranging her room has been an excellent reminder to me that our earthly dwelling places are only temporary.  I don’t need to cling too tightly to my earthly home but look towards my heavenly home and all it’s splendor.  As great as Noah’s room is in my eyes heaven will be infinitely better!

I’ll keep you posted with the changes and will definitely be back to share all the details about Noah’s “big girl” bed with y’all

If you have/had a little one what are your fond memories of their nursery?  What age did you transition them into a “big” bed?  Was falling off the bed a problem for them?  Noah is all over the place in her crib.

My daughter was 23 mos old when her brother was born and she had to be out of the crib. She was like Noah, always all over the bed at night and I knew she would fall out of her “big girl bed.” Instead I decided to put her mattress (without the box spring) right onto the floor for the first few months. It actually worked. She DID roll out of bed (without getting hurt) several times during the night but when she would, she would wake up on the carpet and she didn’t like that. Consequently, she trained HERSELF to stay on the bed during the night while she slept. After a while, we moved the bed frame into the room, put the mattress onto the box spring and she did fine. I did put one of those long body pillows along the outside edge of the bed for a while just in case, but she didn’t really need it. Hope this helps!

This is sort of what we are thinking of doing. Her new bed has a trundle bed underneath and we are thinking we will start her off sleeping on it since it is on the floor. We got it all set up Friday night… she hasn’t started sleeping on it but we have had a few story times on the new bed. She loves it!

I know! I don’t think we are ready to move her quite yet but we will definitely need to transition her before the adoption is complete which we are guestimating will be sometime near the end of the year!

Thanks, Ashley. We got it set up Friday night and I plan to write a blog post about it today. Here’s hoping that Noah has a long nap this afternoon so I can get some writing in. 🙂
