Passing the Time

It’s been a long time since I posted a house update/DIY post. Like January long. That’s when I shared about our mudwall in the foyer and the caffeine induced project that started it all. Ok, now that we are all caught up let’s talk about what actually jump started the caffeine induced project of repainting the walls.

It all goes back tot his guy, MORTORP.

Yep, I was flipping through the IKEA catalogue one day and instantly fell in love with him.  It was as if he was calling my name.  Letting me know that he would stand proudly in our foyer but he promised not to take up any space.  SOLD!!!  I loved the irony of having a grandfather clock in such a tiny space of our house.

So from there my mind started racing and that’s when I frantically repainted the foyer and started some concrete planning for our mudwall. MORTORP isn’t one of those break the bank kind of guys.  He sells regularly for $9.99 but the sad news is he is only available in store.  Thankfully, I had some friends heading over to the ATL for a little IKEA shopping trip anyway so they kindly picked one up for me.

(I had the bench there for a little while but it has since been moved.)

MORTORP was really simples to install. So simple I don’t have pictures.  He came divided into separate decal pieces.  And in the typical IKEA installation fashion it was super easy to line up each piece with the next. I was a little nervous at first because I really lack in the perfectionism traits but as long as you take things slow and steady and smooth all the air bubbles out as you go it will end up looking great.

I didn’t get fancy with the actual clock part of it either.  I don’t remember the actual price but I know it was under ten bucks from Dollar General. Yep, that’s where this interior designer shops for accessories… this time.  Anyway we love our new wall and love that it only cost us around $20 for this entire wall makeover.

Oh, and because I love it so much I just have to show you my door decor that my sister in law gave me for my birthday.  I love how cheerful it makes our house look as well as how it goes with our mudwall. Thank you so much Ruth. It brightens my day… everyday.20140513_140424 20140513_135933

We’ve been working on a few other projects in the past few months too. I’ll be sharing those over the next couple of weeks and hopefully tackling a few more as we make our way through summer.  Don’t worry I’ll still keep you updated with Esther and our family happenings and I’m even thinking of doing an entire post devoted just to Noah and what she’s like now that she’s two and a half. We can’t let Esther have all the blog attention.
