DIY Carpet Deodorizer

Back in the day.  Like back in the college days, I would buy an inexpensive carpet deodorizer from Walmart. I wasn’t really “green” back then and had a long way to go in my health journey BUT it didn’t take me long to realize that the stuff I was sprinkling all over my carpet was not good for me… or anyone else breathing in my apartment.   I stopped using a deodorizer until I came across this all natural recipe that is natural recipe that is much easier on the lungs and actually eliminates the odors instead of masks them.

2 Cups Baking Soda

20-36 drops Young Living Purification – $0.06 a drop for members

Purification® Essential Oil Blend helps freshen the air and eliminate odors with its unique combination of Citronella, Lemongrass, Lavandin, Rosemary, Tea Tree, and Myrtle essential oils, and includes naturally occurring compounds cineol, neral, and geranial.

Place in an airtight container and shake well before each use.  Sprinkle over carpets before vacuuming.  I used 20 drops of Purification ,which is my favorite Young Living blend for all things stinky.  I even use a drop in each load of laundry that I do and an extra one if I left the clothes in the wash too long.  11060163_10155731118060346_4118658263004139778_n

Other suggested oils include Lavender, Geranium, Joy, Evergreen Essence, or Rosemary with Eucalyptus.

What kind of products did you use in college that you wouldn’t dream of using now?
