DIY Furniture Polish

I can think of only a handful of chores I liked as a child and one of them was dusting.  It was a favorite of mine because of how gratifying it was.  Seeing the wood become revived after wiping my oiled dusting cloth across it was so rewarding.  What I couldn’t see was all the chemicals and toxins I was using to clean with.  Those kind of things aren’t exactly made known on the side of a can of Pledge.  So when I discovered I could make my own furniture polish using an item from my pantry and a bottle of essential oil I just had to give it a try.

  • ¼ cup extra virgin olive oil
  • 8 drop Young Living Lemon Essential oil (Pine Essential Oil can be substituted) – $0.04 a drop for members
  • 1 glass spray bottle (found here on Amazon) or a glass jar

Instructions:

Add 8 drops of Young Living essential oil into the glass spray bottle. Add olive oil and shake well before each use.  Apply to a microfiber cloth or an old cloth diaper insert and wipe wood surface. Repeat as often as necessary.

There’s no fake lemon scent in this recipe.  You’ll be smelling the cleaning power of real lemons and experiencing some of its uplifting benefits while cleaning.  Your lungs will have never been happier!

Was anyone else like me and secretly drew pictures in the dust before wiping it clean?
