DIY Facial Night Cream

When I first bought my Premium Starter Kit from Young Living Essential Oils one of the first things I did was make my own face cream.   You are gong to be surprised at how easy it is and how great it feels on  your face.  Like the recipe suggest below I used coconut oil and was amazed at how non-greasy it was on my oily face.  If coconut oil isn’t your thing you may try almond, grapeseed oil, or jojoba.

DIY Facial Night Cream

Facial Night Cream

  • 1 tablespoon coconut oil
  • 3 tablespoons Shea butter
  • 2-3 drops Tea Tree (also known as melaleuca alternifolia) Essential Oil (EO) – $0.09 a drop for members (Lavender can be substituted in place of Tea Tree)
  • 6 drops Frankincense – $0.25 a drop for members.

Mix together and store in container.  Coconut oil is known for it’s moisturizing properties.  Coconut oil also helps to delay the occurrence of wrinkles because it contains antioxidant Vitamin E, known to protect skin cells from damage over time.  Shea butter contains vitamins A & E and is also known for it’s moisturizing properties.

Tea Tree oil is an essential oil that supports healthy skin.  Tea Tree oils may help with the occasional blemishes and skin irritations.   Frankincense may help smooth the appearance of health looking skin.  Combining these two with coconut oil and Shea butter make for an amazing treat for you face at the end of the day.

After you experience the benefits of using this cream you may find yourself research other uses for Tea Tree and Frankincense EO.  I know this was just the beginning in using these two oils for my family. Have you made your own face cream using Young Living Essential Oils before?

DIY All Purpose Salve

Everyone knows bandages are magical, right?  Ask any child and they will tell you that everything is better with a bandage. Fall and bump your knee… bandage.  Get a paper cut… bandage.  Need an extra accessory for your outfit… bandage.   I experience these everyday incidents with my two girls.

When I was little it wasn’t the bandage that was magical but a little can we kept stored under our downstairs sink.  I can’t even tell you the real name of it because all my sister and I ever referred to it as was “Magic Spray”.  It made all our occasional bumps, bruises, and scrapes better.  Why?  Because it supported good skin health.

Now, that I’m all grown up and a fan of chemical free, natural products we keep a jar of homemade All Purpose Salve close by for those instances when we need to support our skin.

DIY All Purpose Salve

All Purpose Salve

This is a great all purpose salve to use on skin. Lemon and Melaleuca Alternifolia (Tea Tree) are wonderful for their cleansing properties. Lavender is a soothing oil that is known for its skin benefits. It can even be used as a hand lotion in the winter.

What You’ll Need:

  • 1 ounce glass lotion pot
  • 5 drops Lemon essential oil – $0.04 a drop
  • 5 drops Lavender essential oil – $0.07 a drop
  • 5 drops Tea Tree (Melaleuca alternifolia) essential oil – $0.07 a drop
  • Almost 2 ounces of raw coconut oil

(all prices are for Young Living members)

Directions:

Scoop 2 ounces of raw coconut oil into a small glass bowl. Add your essential oils. Mix well with a metal fork or spoon. Scoop final concoction into your glass lotion pot and put lid on. Store in a cool, dark place. Apply directly to skin as needed.

What made everything “all better” for you when you were little?  Was it bandages? Your favorite teddy?  Or maybe a special sweet treat?

What’s in your supplement?

My family has been using Young Living Essential Oils for over a year and a half now.  With the incorporation of essential oils into our lifestyle we have begun to make changes in other areas so that we can maintain healthy bodies, minds, and spirits.

While many essential oils like  Orange, Peppermint, and Lemongrass can be used as supplements Young Living has also crafted an entire line of essential oils, all-natural vitamins, and product solutions designed to support a balanced, healthy life.

Back when I was pregnant with Noah my obgyn recommended a specific brand of pre-natal vitamins because they were quality inspected and tested.  Supplements are not required to have that done so often times there really is no guarantee that the bottle you are purchasing is what it says it is. Young Living’s products all come with the Seed to Seal promise which includes testing by Young Living and a third party so you can rest assured that the supplements you are choosing to put in your body are exactly what they claim to be.

That’s a pretty big deal to Michael Luke and me!

NingXia Red has been a daily part of our lives for over a year now and was the first Young Living product outside of the oils that we tried.

If you have ever been to one of my classes you know that it is my husband’s favorite YL product.  He loves the energy boost without the jitters and drop off that NingXia Red offers.

NingXia Red:

  • promotes wellness, energy, and vigor
  • helps energize/improve energy
  • supports normal cellular function
  • contains powerful ingredients that are involved in many natural antioxidant functions
  • supports good health and overall wellness
  • supports whole-body health support
  • supports normal eye health
  • helps prevent against oxidative stress

Over the past few months Balance Complete has become on of my favorite Young Living products.  It’s delicious mixed with water, milk, or added to a smoothie. Last month I filmed an entire YouTube video devoted to Balance Complete and it’s vegetarian counterpart Power Meal.

Balance Complete is a super food-based meal replacement that is both a powerful nutritive energizer and a cleanser.  Read more about Balance Complete here and if you are using some other protein meal replacement option I challenge you to do a price check and look at the difference in ingredients.  It just may surprise you.
